The $0 hosting reset

Happy Wednesday, Sweet Friends!

For the last several months, I've used Wednesdays as a "purchase me" heavy list. However, something that I am a huge fan of is NOT purchasing anything new!

You do not need a shopping trip to host.

You need a reset.

When the world feels overwhelming, our homes start to reflect it. Piles. Half-finished projects. Mental tabs open everywhere.

And suddenly we think:
“I can’t invite anyone into this.”

So let’s fix that.

Not with money.
Not with perfection.

With a $0 reset.

Here’s what to do this week:

1. Clear One Surface

Not the whole house.

One surface.

Your dining table.
Your kitchen island.
Your coffee table.

Clear it completely.
Wipe it down.
Leave it empty for 24 hours.

Space changes your nervous system.

2. Move One Thing

Shift a chair.
Angle a lamp.
Pull the table slightly toward the center of the room.

When you move something physically, you remind yourself you’re allowed to shift emotionally too.

3. Create One Anchor

Light a candle at the same time each evening this week.
Turn on music while you cook.
Set two cloth napkins at dinner, even if it’s just you.

Hosting begins before guests arrive.

It begins with posture.

Here’s the mindset shift:

You are not waiting for your home to be finished.
You are practicing welcoming.

And welcoming is a muscle.

Supper Club exists to give you a rhythm for that muscle.

Not more clutter.
Not more ideas.

A steady monthly reason to reset your table and open your door.

And if you still haven’t? Remember...

Your house does not need to be done.
It needs to be open.

P.S. I’m still talking about my upcoming talk at the Wortham Center because tickets are still available. I danced The Nutcracker on that stage as a child. Walking back onto it now feels like a reminder that we don’t wait to feel finished before we say yes. Because while I feel ready-ish for March 20th, I have a LONG list of "to-dos" before then...

Hosting isn’t performance. It’s power. And I don’t mean power like control.I mean power like leadership. The world feels loud right now.Heavy.Overstimulating. And when everything feels chaotic, the bravest thing you can do is set a table. Not because it fixes the world. But because it fixes your posture inside it. I asked recently what’s keeping people from hosting. One answer stopped me. “House projects.” When I asked what kind, she said, "outside projects." She wanted to power wash the...
