πŸ₯‚ This Weekend at Chez Sweetpea

Happy Thursday, Sweet Friend!

There's something about Thursday afternoons that always makes me start looking toward the weekend.

By now, the workweek has settled in. The groceries are mostly bought. The laundry is (hopefully) folded. And my mind has dreamed up the answer to one of my favorite questions:

"Who could I gather around the table this weekend?"

Sometimes it's Sunday supper with my parents.

Sometimes it's a girlfriend coming over for happy hour.

Sometimes it's a full dinner party with candles lit, music playing, and everyone lingering long after dessert.

No matter what the weekend holds, I rarely wait until Saturday to think about it.

A little planning on Thursday creates so much more margin when guests arriveβ€”and it lets me actually enjoy the gathering instead of scrambling through it.

So every Thursday, I'm inviting you into my plans at Chez Sweetpea, in hopes they'll inspire something beautiful around your own table.

The smallest rituals often make the biggest difference.

✨ Sweetpea's Little Luxury

Reset Your Table

One of my favorite Thursday rituals has nothing to do with groceries or recipes.

I reset my dining table.

Sometimes that means laying out the dishes for the dinner party I'm hosting that weekend. Other times, it simply means clearing away the week's clutter, fluffing the tablecloth, and setting the table just for me.

There's something about walking into a room and seeing the table already prepared that instantly makes the whole house feel calmer.

It's a quiet reminder that good things are coming.

Whether that's a dinner party with friends, Sunday supper with my family, or a simple Tuesday meal at home, the table is ready.

I love that feeling.

If you have ten extra minutes this afternoon, set your table.

Not because company is coming.

Because you are. (Because I am.)

πŸ›’ Future Me Approves

Build your appetizer on Thursday.

This week, I'm making my pimento cheese a day or two ahead of time.

Not because I have to…

Because it tastes even better after spending a night in the refrigerator.

If you're making dips, cheeseballs, chicken salad, or anything that benefits from a little time, Thursday is the perfect day to make it.

Your Saturday self will thank you.

πŸ₯‚ Weekend at Chez Sweetpea

What I'm hosting this weekend (borrow anything you'd like).

This weekend, I'm leaning into one of my favorite kinds of entertaining: Happy Hour at Home.

Nothing elaborate.

Just a few favorite recipes, something cold to sip, good music, and whoever wants to pull up a chair.

On the Menu

πŸ§€ Homemade Pimento Cheese

πŸ₯— Dippy Salad

πŸ₯– Tomato Bruschetta

🍸 Azalea Cocktails

πŸͺ Something sweet from the freezer (because not every dessert has to be homemade!)

Playlist Vibes

A little Otis Redding.
A little Allman Brothers.
Windows open if the weather allows.
Candles lit before the sun goes down.

Because gathering doesn't have to wait for a birthday, a holiday, or a perfectly clean house.

Sometimes Thursday is all the excuse we need to start planning something worth remembering.

This month's Sweetpea's Supper Club Dinner Kit is Papa's Steakhouse, and I couldn't be more excited. All month long, you'll find my speakers filled with Otis Redding, Little Richard, and the Allman Brothers while I text friends to see who wants to gather for an easy steakhouse dinner at home. Sometimes the best evenings don't happen because they're on the calendarβ€”they happen because someone decides to send the invitation.

\🀍 Weekend Blessing

May your refrigerator hold something worth sharing.

May your table have room for one more chair.

May your flowers bloom a little longer than expected.

May your laughter be louder than your to-do list.

And may this weekend remind you that hospitality isn't about impressing people.

It's simply about making them feel welcome.

With love,

Ashley

Happy, August, Sweet Friends! The first week of August always feels funny to me. Summer isn't over, but you can almost feel everyone rushing toward fall. Pumpkin recipes start showing up, school supplies appear overnight, and suddenly we're all expected to pretend it isn't still ninety degrees outside. I'm not ready. I want one more month of iced tea in the afternoon, tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes, and dinners that don't require turning the oven on. This week's recipe ideas are...

Hi, Sweet Friend! At the beginning of this month, I told you I wanted us to create more margin. Not more hustle. Not more pressure. More breathing room. As I've been writing these Wednesday notes, I've realized something. We're not just talking about recipes. Or organizing. Or dinner parties. We're talking about building a life that's easier to say "yes" to. Yes to inviting the neighbors over. Yes to a cup of tea on the porch. Yes to using the good dishes on a Tuesday. Yes to slowing down...

Hi, Sweet Friend! As July begins to wind down, I hope you've noticed something. Not a perfectly organized pantry. Not a spotless kitchen. Not a home that suddenly looks like it belongs in a magazine. Something much quieter than that. I hope you've noticed that your life feels just a little easier. Maybe you've reached for a jar of homemade ranch instead of ordering takeout. Maybe you've invited someone over because the tablecloth was already washed. Maybe you've peeled a handful of sticky...
