🌺 Welcome to June: Curious Hearts 💕

Hi, Sweet Friends!

June has always felt a little magical to me.

Maybe it's the longer evenings. Maybe it's the tomatoes finally showing up at the farmers' market. Maybe it's knowing summer is stretching out in front of us like an open road.

Whatever it is, I've been thinking a lot about curiosity lately.

Not the kind that sends you across the world or inspires a dramatic life makeover.

The quieter kind.

The kind that asks a better question.

The kind that invites a friend to dinner.

The kind that pauses long enough to hear someone's story.

So that's what we're focusing on this month:

Curious Hearts

The big idea is simple:

People rarely remember what was served.
They remember how it felt to be known.

In a world full of opinions, distractions, and endless scrolling, curiosity is becoming a rare gift.

And yet it's one of the simplest ways we can love the people around us.

This month, we're going to practice becoming more curious—in the kitchen, around the table, and in our everyday lives.

Here's What You Can Expect This Month

Sunday Emails
Weekly menu ideas, recipe inspiration, grocery-saving ideas, and practical ways to make dinner easier.

Wednesday Emails
Hosting tips, conversation starters, favorite tools, homemaking inspiration, and ways to cultivate connection around your table.

Summer Recipes
Think fresh salads, grilled favorites, easy entertaining menus, shrimp cocktail towers, backyard suppers, and meals that feel special without requiring a full day's work.

Conversation Starters
We'll be talking about how to ask questions that help people feel seen, heard, and valued. I'll be sharing my new favorite table decoration: my Sip and Spill Jar!

Simple Hosting Ideas
Hospitality isn't performance—it's presence.

And because some of the best dinners happen when you stop waiting for everything to be perfect.

Your June Challenge

Invite 4–6 people over this month.

🥰 That's it.

Not for a themed party.

Not for an Instagram-worthy gathering.

Just for dinner.

Serve something simple.

Light a candle.

Ask a few good questions.

See what happens.

I have a feeling you'll discover what I've learned over the years:

People don't need another perfect event.

They need places where they can belong.

One more thing.

June 14 marks Sweetpea Lifestyle's 18th anniversary, birthday, whatever you want to call it.

Eighteen years of recipes, stories, dinner parties, and gathering around the table.

We'll celebrate together later this month, but for now I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you for opening these emails.

Thank you for believing that food is about more than food.

Here's to a month of curious hearts, good meals, and lingering conversations.

Pull up a chair.

We're just getting started.

With love,

Ashley

P.S. Hit reply and tell me: What's one thing you're curious about right now? A recipe? A hobby? A dream? A conversation you want to have? I'd love to know.

Hi, Sweet Friend! Yesterday, I lit a candle before I made dinner. Not because anyone was coming over. Not because I was filming a video. Not because it was a special occasion. Just because I was home. And it reminded me of something I've been thinking about all month: The quiet magic of everyday rituals. I think we've gotten so used to saving beautiful things. The "good" dishes. The linen napkins. The candles. The cloth tablecloth. The fancy tea. The beautiful serving bowl. We tuck them away...

Hi, Sweet Friend! One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is a week that doesn't feel like we're constantly starting from scratch. You know those evenings when it's 5:30, everyone's hungry (even if "everyone" is just you!), and suddenly the question is... "What's for dinner?" We've all been there. But here's what I've learned over years of cooking, hosting, and trying to make everyday life feel a little more peaceful: A little preparation creates a lot of freedom. I don't meal prep...

Hi, Sweet Friend! Have you ever noticed that the people who seem to host effortlessly usually aren't working harder than everyone else? They're simply preparing differently. I've been thinking about this phrase a lot lately: Holistic Hosting. To me, it means that hosting isn't an event. It's a lifestyle. It doesn't begin when guests ring the doorbell. It begins on an ordinary Wednesday afternoon when you wash the tablecloth after lunch instead of leaving it in the laundry basket. It begins...
